Längtan is the third studio album by Swedish black metal band Vanhelga. The album was released in 2014 and features an array of dark and melancholic tracks that explore themes of loss, loneliness, and despair.
The album opens with the haunting track "Svartsint ömhet," which sets the tone for the rest of the album with its atmospheric soundscapes and somber melodies. From there, the album takes the listener on a journey through the depths of the human psyche with tracks like "Desperation" and "Livets bitterhet."
Despite the heavy subject matter, there is a beauty to the music on Längtan. The band's use of acoustic guitars and piano on tracks like "Ett öde av längtan" and "Ensamheten" add a layer of depth and emotion to the album.

Sweden's Vanhelga started as a solo project of musician Jacob Ottosson based over D-tuned Sweden's Shining/Forgotten Tomb/Sargeist sonorities, as shown by their 2010 debut, Mortem Illuminate Mea (2 stars). Later albums include 2012's Host (fuzzier production, like guitars amplified without cabinets, and standard tuning in the vein of old Agalloch, 2.5 stars), 2016's Ode
