Review by Jenny Loos

Ozma's album "Spending Time On The Borderline" is a brilliant collection of songs that takes the listener on a journey through various musical genres. From the upbeat pop-punk anthem "Eponine" to the melancholic ballad "In Search Of 1988," the album showcases the band's versatility and creativity.

The production quality is top-notch, with every instrument and vocal track perfectly balanced to create a cohesive sound. The lyrics are clever and thought-provoking, touching on themes of love, loss, and nostalgia.

One standout track is "Come Home Andrea," a catchy and upbeat song that will have listeners singing along in no time. The guitar riffs are infectious, and the harmonies are spot-on.

Comments

I love how Ozma's first three albums are a trilogy of masterpieces. These guys carried the torch after Weezer's Pinkerton, and they perfected the sound of California emo-ish power pop rock that no other bands have been able to do. Spending Time On The Borderline is Ozma's most mature and musically adventurous album. Sure, there are songs with lyrics about unrequited love and young adult angst, but many songs tackle adult themes such as boredom with work and life, and there's even a song on here about 9/11. Game Over and Spending Time are the most typical of Ozma, and they are infectious and fun to listen to. Curve in the Old 1-9 and Wake Up feature musical twists and turns that are genius. Ozma show how talented and truly brilliant they are on this album. Star Wick also contributes beautiful backing vocals throughout this album. Turtleneck Coverup and Bad Dogs are the most aggressive songs on here, and the way Ozma use lyrics on those songs are a bit different for them.Utsukushi Shibuya is a pretty song about unrequited love, and it brings me back to the school crushes that never happened. The chorus of that song is so gorgeous too. Then, the finale, Light Years Will Burn, is just epic and amps me up! Every band member is on fire on this album, and the guitars are especially creative and they rock out with killer solos. I would love to hear this whole album played live. I seriously need to see Ozma and Weezer live before I die.Overall, this album is a perfect masterpiece that caps off a wonderful trilogy of albums that Ozma released in their career. Their first three albums are some of my all time favorites.
10 Year later, still jammin to Ozma
My friends and I caught Ozma 10 years ago in NYC w/ Rooney.  I remember hearing them open with this song as we were still running from the train towards the pier.  Great nostalgic memories, I was 15...
This is a MOST AWESOME video.Love OZMA
Awesome band! I have one of their first demos with a early version of Natalie Portman on it.
awesome! 5 stars. i wonder what the budget was on this. check out my homemade music video.
The Rowdys
been listening to them since i can remember, love this band
kinda reminds me of the power rangers at the beginning hehehe. i love Ozma. They're a band with talent that get no recognition.
i just noticed, after so many years, that the drummer is spelling out "o-z-m-a" as he drums!
since high school, i will love ozma forever <3
I lived on the other side of the wall from the lead for a while. Frakkin' surreal realization!
Does this remind anyone of a Final Fantasy theme?
Great video!! for a great song. Ozma rocks!!
Ozma = Pwns.
good song 9.5/10
This song slap
I've been thrown the gaijin glare for so long
By now I take the scorn in stride
Got no time for pride that only serves to divide
Got no time for miscommunication

I've been trying to set this straight for so long
Trying to hammer out what's bent
You trust in my intent
You must be heaven sent
And I've been trying to let you know that I love you so

I've been trying to find a girl for so long
That tears have often filled my eyes
Under azure skies as we said our last goodbyes
I was trying to let you know that I love you so

I love you so
You'll never know
But I love you so
I love you so

I've been trying to set this straight for so long
Trying to hammer out what's bent
You trust in my intent
You must be heaven sent
And I've been trying to let you know how much I need you

I've been trying to find a girl for so long
That tears have often filled my eyes
Under azure skies as we said our last goodbyes
I was trying to let you know that I love you so

I love you so
You'll never know
But I love you so
I love you so
