Review by Ralston Web Designs

Venceremos We Will Win by Working Week is a powerful and inspiring album that showcases the band's musical versatility and political activism. The album features a mix of jazz, Latin, and African rhythms, fused together to create a unique and captivating sound.

The lyrics on the album are politically charged and speak to the struggles of working-class people around the world. The title track, "Venceremos We Will Win," is a call to action for social justice and solidarity, while "Sweet Nothing" is a poignant reflection on the emptiness of consumer culture.

The musicianship on the album is top-notch, with each member of the band contributing their own unique sound and style. The saxophone and trumpet solos are particularly impressive, adding a layer of depth and emotion to the already powerful songs.

The dancing
Pulento.
I can't explain the joy it brings to hear this much-loved, long forgotten momento of happy days!
Not quite sure what catapulted this in to my head this evening but I'm damn happy it did. Glorious teenage memories of trying to look the coolest and out do the other kids mix tapes in the art room in the sixth form. Tracey Thorn as wonderful as ever and the whole mix is like being lifted up in a whirlwind of passion. Happy, happy days...
Beautiful song. Think I have the 7" version. Love Tracey Thorn's vocal.
More than 30 years after this song has been released, we can´t say "Vencemos" (we won). We have the fascist and racist Bolsonaro in Brasil, and a dictatorship in Bolivia, and many other problemas in South America. But one day (we) they will win! I hope!
This the best version of this great song of Working Week. I loved it in 1984-85 and i still do.
Smash Melee Trophy theme
Sensacional
I bought this when it came out and saw them live. It sparked a love of latin music that has never left me.
I remember seeing Working Week at the Brixton Academy in June 1986 as part of an AAA gig, I was 15.
A pearl from the 80s
brilliant. 2020.
I've got his 12" had it for years, still love it. glad you cut the shitty ending. lol.
Tune still working for me every week .
a stone cold classic...from 85
Heavy from day 1.
Listening through headphones at 6 mins in , I jumped at the sound of barking dogs ? ....must be the gin and ting ...☺️
Voice like honey ?
Something about this reminds me of Walkmans ‘Blue as your blood’
Much better than the later LP version-some great Larry Stabbins on soprano and tenor......
Brit Jazzfunk group Working Week, the brainchild of Simon Booth & sax king Larry Stabbins, from the 1984 single release, the latin fusion Venceremos, a tribute to Chilean protest singer Victor Jara, with vocals from Robert Wyatt & Tracy Thorn
I frequently watch this video...
...its brought me to tears before now.
Venceremos!
I remember there being a real jazz vibe at the time.
spanish part are like random phrases, or the typical 70's bullshit that was to be interpreted...music and english part is superb
