- Texas Style...
- I have to say this type of fiddling is very dear to me. I grew up listening to it my entire life, watching my Grandpa, Dad and uncle play every weekend in my grandparent's kitchen. I distinctly remember when I was first beginning to play, wanting to play the way my Papa was playing and not understanding why it didn't sound the same. It was a Texas style of playing, developed in the old house and barn dances, polished, enhanced, embellished by great players ,and now played in competitions all over the country. This fiddle music, like all rural/country music that is primarily taught knee to knee, is constantly changing, progressing. And teh new generation plays it great. As for me, I lean toward the way my old hero's played, maybe the 2nd or 3rd generation of Texas breakdown players. I still listen to them every day, and miss those old guys all the time.
- I would like to give a shout out to my fantastic rhythm section:
- Anthony Mature for being the rock behind my left shoulder in all those contests.
- Matt Hartz for the "sock", playing rhythm the way I would, and for inspiring me to get off the couch and do something for once.
- Mark Abbott for being the glue to it all.
- Danny Levin for all the support, time and hard work, and caring more than I thought possible.
- My Dad, Grandpa, and Uncle Gene who spent countless hours helping me learn and whom I will always miss.
- And to all the great Texas Masters who have inspired me to learn every tune they ever played.
- I hope you enjoy this as much as I did making it
