Satya Chowdhury was a renowned singer whose incomparable songs rocked Bengal in the 1940's. He hails from a Zamindar family of Rajshahi in undivided Bengal. He was born on 17th September 1918 at 31 no.Grey Street, His father was Jatindra Mohan Chowdhury and mother was Bimala Devi. Dwijendralal Roy was his maternal grandfather. From his childhood he was interested in music and in his teenage came in contact with Kazi Najrul Islam .Later he recorded many kind of songs of Kazi Najrul Islam like Durgamagiri Kantara Maru, Jago anashana bondi, Mor Priya Hobe Asho Rani etc.The most famous song being 'Prithibi Amare Chay '. in the year 1942, he also acted in some films. He was interested in sports, photography, driving, cycling and literature. He remained a bachelor throughout his life and went on giving lessons in music to a few selected group of students.This great musical personality passed away on 5th December 1993. In the film RANGAMATI in the year 1949 ,he act in main cast (HERO). In the movie GOPALBHAR he acted in the role of Sadhak Ramprosad. He provided playback for various film songs .One of the main film KABI JOYDEB he sang 24 songs.
