What a memory... what a voice. Thank you so much for this
Great version from Johnny Ray.
Poor old Johnnie ray he was a homosexual but in those days he had to keep it a secret or his career would be over .
The world was different then
I was six and he ran down an kissed me at the end of the stage while singing at Cal Neva...I thought he was looking at a lady in the Audience ...she was waiting but instead he came and kissed me
That's a great tune!
My dad's favorite song...❤️??
Rip my mam you loved Johnny ray ?
Memories xx
My big sister loved him so I heard his songs a lot. I seem to remember that his career ended when people found out he ws gay. A big no no back then. Wouldn't happen now.
Such fun..hearing a song with an ACTUAL MELODY....today's pop music is just a lot of chanting and screaming...
Knocked it out of the park
Talent is forever young...
my first knowledge of Johnnie was in 1950 and so good
I would have love to hear Johnnie in person FASTSTIC
belongs to the early 60, i wasnt a fan
Very interesting vocal phrasing here...,isn't he using straight time...,no swing? Sounds like he has disregarded triplet feel entirely. Very unique...,of course, his voice is just so present, so powerful...,just so unique.
seeing him in person who have to be fantastic
He could give a song an energetic lift & his phrasing was powerfully different to other pop singers of his era.Still enjoy his songs that have now gone out of fashion
RAY was a fabulous singer unique like Sinatra Tony Bennet and Guy Mitchell
