My big sister loved him so I heard his songs a lot. I seem to remember that his career ended when people found out he ws gay. A big no no back then. Wouldn't happen now.

Very interesting vocal phrasing here...,isn't he using straight time...,no swing? Sounds like he has disregarded triplet feel entirely. Very unique...,of course, his voice is just so present, so powerful...,just so unique.
