Review by Matt Dawson

Hallelujah I'm A Bum by Harry McClintock is a timeless album that captures the essence of the Great Depression era in America. The album features 18 tracks, each telling a unique story of the struggles and hardships faced by the working class during those difficult times.

McClintock's distinct voice and guitar playing add a raw and authentic feel to the album. His songs are filled with humor, wit, and social commentary, making them both entertaining and thought-provoking.

The album's title track, "Hallelujah I'm A Bum," is a standout, with its catchy chorus and memorable melody. Other notable tracks include "The Preacher and the Slave," a satirical take on organized religion, and "Big Rock Candy Mountain," a whimsical song about a mythical paradise for the homeless.

Early '70's
My dad sang a version!
My Uncle used to play this song.

It's like the words just roll off his tongue automatically and natural, love this
I first heard this in 1978 on an old Victrola.

Man, some times they make it appear as though the 20s were the greatest time to have lived in.
Tho in ways it was much better than the present days.
Mostly because people were more charitable then,
then what they are now.
But! I'd like to add this. That God there are still good people
God is still present.
I didn't know what to say when I heard this song
Carson Robison also did a version of this song that is pretty much impossible to find online. only found it once.
This makes me wanna quit my job to travel in my truck and sleep Under the stars
I remember this record from when I was a kid, we used to put it on and listen to it. Don't know whatever happened to the record but it's so cool to hear it again after all these years.
