Das Typische Ding, the debut album by German experimental band Die Tödliche Doris, is a bold and unconventional work that defies easy categorization. Released in 1981, the album features a mix of spoken word, musique concrète, found sounds, and avant-garde rock, all held together by the band's irreverent and subversive approach to music-making.
From the opening track, "Herrscherin," which features lead singer and co-founder Nicoletta Stephanz reciting a list of dictators, to the closing track, "Gehirn," which consists of a collage of distorted voices and electronic noise, Das Typische Ding is a challenging and uncompromising listen. The band's use of unconventional instruments, such as a typewriter and a vacuum cleaner, adds to the album's sense of experimentation and playfulness.
Despite its avant-garde leanings, however, the album is not without its moments of beauty and lyricism. "Angela," a tribute to German politician Angela Merkel, features haunting vocals and a hypnotic guitar riff, while "Komm Doch" is a surprisingly catchy and upbeat track that showcases the band's ability to write memorable melodies.

- This came with booklet with drawings and text.
- First edition: 200 copies .
- Limited to 500 copies, 250 of which were enclosed in the boxset Strudelsölle.
- Previously released in two editions on Das Cassetten Combinat and an third edition on Graf Haufen Tapes (GHT-15).
- Originally released on a limited edition cassette in 1981, later re-released on cassette again.
- Limited to 2 copies, sleeve comes with embossed Vinyl-On-Demand logo.
- Previously published in two editions on cassette by Das Cassetten Combinat .
- This was the third edition with revised booklet. The old booklets were used, with an attached address sticker of Graf Haufen Tapes where the address of Das Cassetten Combinat used to be. This edition was supposed to be published on Das Cassetten Combinat as well originally, but they had a fall out, so it was taken to Graf Haufen Tapes instead.
- All booklets were all uniquely modified by Die Tödliche Doris (partially coloured or rubberstamped). Print run of 111 copies.
