Cult of Luna's album Eviga Riket is a masterpiece of modern post-metal. The Swedish band has crafted a collection of songs that are both hauntingly beautiful and crushingly heavy. The album features a mix of clean and harsh vocals, layered guitars, and atmospheric synths that create a sense of otherworldly dread.
The opening track, "Owlwood," sets the tone with its slow, brooding intro that builds into a thunderous climax. From there, the album takes the listener on a journey through the depths of the human psyche. "The Great Migration" features a driving rhythm and soaring vocals that give way to a chaotic breakdown. "In Awe Of" is a slower, more introspective track that showcases the band's ability to create atmosphere with minimal instrumentation.
The standout track on the album is "Echoes," which features a guest appearance from Julie Christmas. Her haunting vocals blend seamlessly with the band's signature sound, creating a truly transcendent experience. The album closes with "The Lure (Interlude)," a brief but powerful instrumental that leaves the listener wanting more.
