This song is an absolute masterpiece. I was in 6th grade when it was popular and it still sounds as wonderful as it did then.
wow, what a voice, and a great song to boot
SUCH AN AMAZING VOICE AND A GREAT SONG.I first heard it as a teen growing up in 1959 .thank you
Tchaikovsky Symphony no 5. In A minor originally
Wish I could find a download of this song. Neither itunes nor amazon has it.
Thanks for the classical background information here. The song was written by Lou Stallman and Sid Jacobson, who had a number of hits. Stallman also wrote Perry Como's number one hit, Round and Round with lyricist Joe Shapiro.
James Burdett....yes he sounds like the lead of the Valiants, because he WAS the lead of the Valiants...this is such a great song...I remember seeing him on the Ed Sullivan Show.... I once ran into him at a coffee shop in Los Angeles.
This is my favourite song by Billy. Its just perfect for him.
B side was the hit in Indianapolis during the Spring of 1959.
one of the most BEAUTIFUL records / voices ever! Too bad we got so little from Billy...I wonder what stalled his career (?)
That baritone and alto mix for a male singer tells me that Billy Storm is a light lyric tenor or leggero tenor in a non classical style?
I remember when he sang this song on The Ed Sullivan Show. Would love to see a video of that again.
I was in my last year at Boston English High when my band 'JC and is Boys' went by the local radio station after school to perform. He was there to sing 'I've Come of Age'. He was dressed in and off white suit.
Hard for me to believe it charted 26 when a record enthusiast such as I has never heard of it.
billy was my uncle,he had a beatiful voice,we sure do miss him
You're welcome!
My favorite song by Billy Storm. I will never be tired of this song. The first time I heard it was when it was first released in the fifties. Absolutely fantastic singer and a wonderful song. Great combination.
